Where you live affects your auto insurance rates. How is it possible? Does that mean that I can actually get higher or lower rates by changing my place of residence? Yes, you can. You may find this hard to believe unless you're an insurance expert. However, there are things you can do to actually use your home to get better rates.
There are certain good reasons why information about your place of residence is required in getting an auto insurance quote. This is also the reason why information on your place of work could also be required.
They need to know where you live in order to determine how safe or risky the neighborhood is. If you live in an area that has a high incidence of car theft, vandalism and/or violence.
